“Cleaneck” - drug rehabilitation ward

The department of dependence diseases of the "Pfalzklinikum" at the location Klingenmünster has 2 wards with a total of 41 beds.

In the "Cleaneck", illegal drug addicts from Rhineland-Palatinate and other regions can undergo an acupuncture-assisted withdrawal cure without using opiates.

To methadone-substituted patients we absolutely recommend reducing the dose of methadone to 30 mg prior to hospitalization in an outpatient treatment. For withdrawal from methadone, we use a special acupuncture schedule. Twice a day at fixed times, we offer acupuncture. Furthermore, acupuncture is used when required (e.g. sleeping problems), also aromatherapy. Drugs are prescribed if they are necessary from the point of view of medicine. For example, benzodiazepines are reduced step-by-step and alcohol withdrawal symptoms are treated with distraneurine or tiapridex.

Two psychological parents lend each patient their support. In addition, however, each staff member acts as contact person. A daily program comprising acupuncture, group sessions, occupational and sports therapy, relaxation and music therapy structures the day from 8 o’clock in the morning to 7 o’clock in the evening. At the weekend, too, evening sessions and acupuncture dates are integral parts of the therapy program. Furthermore, leisure time activities are planned together.

The "Cleaneck" is situated as stand-alone, modern building at the fringe of the "Pfalzklinikum". It has single bedrooms with shower and toilet as well as therapy and recreation rooms. In the "Cleaneck" there are a sauna, an exercise room, billiards, darts and table soccer. A huge garden belongs to the building. The swimming-pool, the tennis court, the bowling alley and the mini-golf course of the "Pfalzklinikum" can be used, too. The participation in the treatment program is obligatory. Integral part of the therapeutic program is that the patients attended by a staff member go out every day. Permission to go out and contacts are restricted at our house. We motivate every single patient and together we plan the subsequent outpatient or inpatient treatment…"
